UP

UP

So, i just watched the wonderful movie, UP for the third time. i can hardly put into words why this movie is so amazing, but i'll do my best.

let's start with the plot. a man, carl, literally flies his house to south america using only balloons...thats pretty awesome right there. then you add a naive little boy, russel,  with the dream of becoming a "senior wilderness explorer" and it seems perfect. But it doesn't stop there. Nope. There's adventure, fantasy, hilarious comedy,  action, and the most beautiful romance i have ever watched on screen. Although the movie is animated, i felt as though carl and russel were real actors simply being recorded as they went on with their lives. They just seem so real!

Ok. Ok. Before i get a head of myself... lets move on to the characters themselves. Carl is such a natural character that its hard to remember he's fictional. his relationship with his wife, Ellie, was so touching (and i'm not one to usually be into the sappy love stories). there were a few instances where i really did want to cry because of both the beauty and the sadness. I have yet to see a movie with that much love between two characters. it's the kind of relationship every couple wishes they had. Absolutely perfect. Now, quick before i tear up. Let's move on to the second most important character, Russel. He's adorable. Need i say more? No, but i will anyway. Let's just say if i was still 8 years old, he'd be the kid i'd want to play with. He's hilarious with his whining, which was realistic and natural and was exactly like the pouting of any boy his age. and lets not forget his innocent need to please. this is what really makes him great. throughout the movie, all russel wants is to be noticed by carl, who we can safely say is his new idol. these two characters make the movie what it is. they bring reality to the fictional, animated film.

whew. Probably the hardest thing about this movie to put into words would be the incredible animation. Disney Pixar never seems to upset when it comes to movies and they certainly are at the top of the totem pole with this one. the animation is unbelievable, to say the least. everything, although abstract, felt and looked very realistic. the bold shapes that Pixar is so well known for made the scenery and characters come to life and seem even more interesting than they would have been without. with out a doubt, this movie is beautiful in every aspect.

Hmmm, where to start... how about at the beginning

Hmmm, where to start... how about at the beginning

Ok. So, I've never had a blog before and to tell you the truth i have no idea what to write. My friend said to start off by telling you about myself, which seems like a pretty good way to start. So, here's everything you need to know about me:

I was born and raised in Iowa. No, i do not live on a farm, wear overalls, eat corn at every meal, drive a tractor, own a pig, or get out of school early to tend to the field. Promise. What i do have is amazing friends, awesome stories, and a love for both art and music. Now, this is all pretty boring, I know, but don't worry. The good stuff is on its way.

Like I said, i have a love for art. Any kind of art. i participate in the annual Chalk the Walk art festival in Mount Vernon, Iowa (Which is awesome). My room is like my diary. Every piece of art i have ever done is hanging up in a tight collage on my walls. And I mean every piece. From doodles in English class, to sketches from drawing class. Everything.

Now on to the music. I, myself, have no musical talent what so ever, but i do have a lot of respect for it. i listen to just about anything...well except country. I love anything from the Rolling Stones and Janis Joplin to Goldfrapp and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. If i'm not talking to someone, you can be assured that i'm listening to music (right now it happens to be "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John). By the way, Pandora was created by the gods.

So, i guess i'm suppose to give some insight about my personality, so here it goes. when i first meet you, i will be extremely shy and angelic. then, as i get to know you, my true self begins to shine through. that being my devilish side. i've got wit that's faster than Indiana Jones's whip, which is saying a lot right there. i'm extremely sarcastic, so never take me seriously. Never. if you think i'm being mean it means i like you. Thats just how things work around here. Now, if you can serve my comments right back to me and are able to keep up a good argument, then i'll like you even more. As one of my very good friends once said "She's not angry, she's...intense!" Yeah, i guess you could put it that way... Also, i'm very loyal, so don't mess with my friends. This, apparently makes me very intimidating, but thats just who i am. If you give me the chance, i'm one of the funniest bitches you'll ever meet. ever.

So thats about all you need to know, for now. enjoy! whooshtooooo!(thats me crackin my whip of wit)
